POWERGRID Posts Consolidated PAT of Rs 3,598 Crore for Q1FY27
POWERGRID reported a consolidated Profit After Tax of Rs 3,598 crore and Total Income of Rs 11,697 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2026.
Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, a Maharatna company under the Ministry of Power, has announced its financial results for the first quarter of FY27, ended June 30, 2026. On a standalone basis, the company posted Profit After Tax of Rs 3,411 crore and Total Income of Rs 11,370 crore. On a consolidated basis, Profit After Tax stood at Rs 3,598 crore and Total Income at Rs 11,697 crore.
POWERGRID operates as India's principal inter-state and inter-regional electricity transmission utility, and its quarterly results are closely tracked as an indicator of the pace of grid infrastructure build-out supporting the country's renewable energy expansion.
The company incurred capital expenditure of Rs 7,765 crore during the quarter and capitalised assets worth Rs 5,277 crore, excluding foreign exchange rate variation and including assets capitalised as finance lease, on a consolidated basis. Its Gross Fixed Assets on a consolidated basis stood at Rs 3,25,671 crore, including Gross Lease Receivables, as on June 30, 2026.
At the end of the quarter, POWERGRID and its subsidiaries held total transmission assets of 1,86,595 circuit kilometres of transmission lines, 291 substations, and 6,34,516 MVA of transformation capacity, maintaining an average transmission system availability of 99.80% during the period.
During the quarter, POWERGRID secured an JPY 80 billion loan from the Japan Bank for International Cooperation to finance the Khavda-Nagpur HVDC Transmission Project, a large-scale line intended to evacuate renewable power from Gujarat's Khavda region to load centres in central India.
Under Tariff Based Competitive Bidding, POWERGRID emerged as the successful bidder in five transmission projects during the quarter, comprising three Inter-State Transmission System projects and two Intra-State Transmission System projects. During July 2026, the company also secured India's first Synchronous Condenser scheme under TBCB, intended to support the integration of renewable energy into the grid.
The results were announced as part of POWERGRID's regular quarterly financial disclosure for Q1FY27.
