CBIC Gives Additional Charge to Three Chief Commissioners in Ahmedabad and Vadodara Zones
CBIC has given additional charge to three Chief Commissioners: Narang gets Ahmedabad GST, Brij Bhushan Gupta Ahmedabad Customs, Mohanty the Vadodara GST zone.
The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has assigned additional charge to three Chief Commissioners, covering zones in Gujarat.
Harmeet Singh Narang, Chief Commissioner, GST and Central Excise Zone, Jaipur, will hold additional charge of the Ahmedabad GST and Central Excise Zone. Brij Bhushan Gupta, a Mumbai-based Chief Commissioner, has been given the Ahmedabad Customs Zone. Manas Ranjan Mohanty, Chief Commissioner, Bhopal, has been given additional charge of the Vadodara GST and Central Excise Zone.
An additional charge means each officer keeps the primary posting and takes on a second zone alongside it. In all three cases the primary posting is outside Gujarat, in Jaipur, Mumbai and Bhopal. Such arrangements are normally made when a zone has no regular head and the Board wants a Chief Commissioner in place while a regular posting is awaited.
The three zones cover the two largest cities of Gujarat. Ahmedabad is covered by both a GST and Central Excise zone and a separate Customs zone, and the order gives each to a different officer. Vadodara has its own GST and Central Excise zone.
