AGMUT Cadre IPS Officer Madhup Tiwari Posted as Security Advisor, Arunachal Police

Madhup Tiwari, an AGMUT cadre IPS officer who was transferred from Delhi Police to Arunachal Pradesh in May and had since been awaiting posting, has been named Security Advisor in the Arunachal Police.

Arunachal Pradesh, bordering both China and Myanmar, carries security considerations distinct from most other AGMUT postings, and a Security Advisor role in the state police typically involves coordination on border-security matters alongside the state's regular law-and-order apparatus. The post places Tiwari in an advisory capacity to the state police leadership rather than a direct command charge.

Tiwari's transfer from Delhi Police, one of the largest and highest-profile metropolitan forces in the country, to a Himalayan border state posting is a significant shift in operating environment, from an intensely urban charge to one centred on frontier security.

He was serving in Delhi Police before the May transfer to Arunachal Pradesh, where he then spent several months awaiting a formal posting before this appointment came through.

The gap between his May transfer and the current posting reflects the AGMUT cadre's practice of moving officers between its constituent territories — Delhi, Arunachal Pradesh, Goa and Mizoram — as vacancies and administrative needs arise across very different policing contexts.

As Security Advisor, Tiwari will be working within a state police setup that is considerably smaller than Delhi's, but one operating along a sensitive international frontier where coordination with central paramilitary forces stationed in the state is a routine part of the role.

The posting takes effect as per the Arunachal Pradesh government's order.
