Dharmender Kumar Meena, 2012-Batch Karnataka IPS Officer, Moves From NTRO to CBI as DIG

Dharmender Kumar Meena, a 2012-batch IPS officer of the Karnataka cadre, has been inducted as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), on a lateral shift basis.

Meena is currently Senior Director in the National Technical Research Organisation (NTRO) in New Delhi, a technical intelligence agency of the Union government. His move takes him from technical intelligence to a criminal investigation agency.

The induction is for a combined period of central deputation of five years, that is, up to August 26, 2029. The combined period counts the time he has already spent on central deputation, so the CBI posting runs for the balance.

DIG is a senior supervisory rank in the CBI, above the Superintendent of Police. The agency draws its police officers from the IPS on deputation.

Meena's central deputation ends on August 26, 2029.
