Three IAS Officers Transferred in Maharashtra; Sanjay Khandare Named ACS (Forest)

The Maharashtra government has issued transfer orders for three IAS officers. Sanjay Khandare (IAS, 1996) has been posted as Additional Chief Secretary (Forest), Mumbai. Sanjay Yadav (IAS, 2009) has been posted as Secretary (Tourism), Mumbai. Vaishnavi B. (IAS, 2019) has been appointed Additional Divisional Commissioner, Nagpur Division.

The Forest Department is headed at the secretariat by an Additional Chief Secretary, one of the senior-most ranks in the state's administration. The post oversees forest and wildlife administration in a state that holds significant tiger habitat in the Vidarbha region, and the officer works with the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests.

Khandare is the senior officer of the three. A 1996-batch officer is at the level where the state names heads of major departments. Yadav, of the 2009 batch, is posted at the Secretary level in Tourism, a department that works with the state's tourism corporation and with districts on heritage and pilgrimage circuits.

Vaishnavi B. is the youngest of the three, a 2019-batch officer. The Additional Divisional Commissioner assists the Divisional Commissioner in running a division, and the Nagpur Division covers six districts: Nagpur, Wardha, Bhandara, Gondia, Chandrapur and Gadchiroli.

The three orders span three tiers of the state cadre, a senior department head in Mumbai, a Secretary-level officer in Mumbai and a field-facing posting in Nagpur. Each is a separate appointment rather than a linked swap.

The orders carry no change of cadre.
