PESB Finds No Suitable Candidate for National Textile Corporation CMD Post

The Public Enterprises Selection Board has not recommended any candidate for the post of Chairman and Managing Director of National Textile Corporation Limited, and has advised the administrative ministry to pursue an alternative selection route, including a Search-cum-Selection Committee.

PESB is the central body responsible for selecting top management for central public sector enterprises, screening candidates against eligibility and experience criteria before recommending names to the government. A finding of no suitable candidate means the board's regular empanelment-based process did not yield a name it was prepared to recommend for the CMD post.

National Textile Corporation, under the Ministry of Textiles, runs a network of textile mills that has gone through repeated restructuring, closures and revival attempts over multiple decades, making the CMD post a demanding administrative charge.

No candidate details from the search process were disclosed in the board's advisory.

The recommendation to fall back on a Search-cum-Selection Committee signals that the government may now look beyond the standard PESB pipeline to fill the post, a route sometimes used for PSUs where internal empanelment has not produced a workable shortlist.

NTC's CMD post carries responsibility for a corporation still working through the legacy of decades of mill closures and labour disputes, alongside whatever revival plans the Ministry of Textiles has set for the remaining units.

The Administrative Ministry and Department concerned have been advised to choose the further course of action with the approval of the competent authority.
