National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), the Navratna CPSE under Ministry of Mines, Govt of India, joined the Nation in observing Vigilance Awareness Week 2025 with the central theme “Vigilance: Our Shared Responsibility.” A series of awareness activities and competitions were organized across all units and regional offices to promote the values of integrity, transparency, and accountability in public life. As part of the campaign, an Elocution Competition was held at the Corporate Office, witnessing enthusiastic participation from over 250 students representing around 70 schools and colleges from the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. Various competitions were also organized among NALCO employees to reinforce the message of ethical conduct and vigilance in the workplace. At the valedictory ceremony held on 4 th November, at the Corporate Office auditorium in Bhubaneswar, Shri Hemant Sharma, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, I&PR & Industries Department and Chairman, IPICOL, Government of Odisha, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Shri Brijendra Pratap Singh, CMD, Shri Pankaj Kumar Sharma, Director (Production), Shri Jagdish Arora, Director (P&T), Dr. Tapas Kumar Pattanayak, Director (HR), Shri Abhay Kumar Behuria, Director (Finance) and Shri Pranabjyoti Nath, IAS, CVO, NALCO, were present on the occasion as the distinguished guests and handed over the awards to the winners of various competitions. At the outset, Shri Pranabjyoti Nath, IAS, CVO, NALCO, outlined on the various awareness activities undertaken during the week-long celebrations and appreciated the active participation and enthusiasm of employees, students, and stakeholders during the Vigilance Awareness Week. He highlighted the importance of collective responsibility in fostering ethical conduct and organizational integrity. In his address, Shri Hemant Sharma, IAS, appreciated NALCO’s contribution and said that NALCO stands as a shining example of how resources, when managed with integrity and efficiency, can drive sustainable national progress. He lauded NALCO for optimally utilizing its resources for the benefit of communities, the State of Odisha, and the nation, while reinforcing values from within. Credibility, he noted, is a premium built internally by any successful organization. "Empowering employees fosters vigilance, and an organization that functions with integrity, transparency, and quality naturally paves the way for profitability", he said. Shri Brijendra Pratap Singh, CMD, in his address, emphasized that vigilance must be a continuous practice, not a periodic observance. “Vigilance is not merely about preventing wrongdoing; it is about fostering a culture where honesty and fairness guide every action and decision,” he said. He underlined that vigilance strengthens systems, promotes ethical practices, and builds organizational credibility, thereby reinforcing stakeholder trust. The valedictory function concluded with a collective reflection on how integrity fuels sustainable growth and good governance, reaffirming NALCO’s commitment to ethical excellence and transparent operations. Worth mentioning that in line with the Vigilance Awareness Week theme, NALCO is also observing a three-month-long awareness campaign beginning August 18, 2025, aimed at fostering an organizational culture of vigilance and ethical behavior.
