Smt. Rekha Gupta, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi, laid the foundation stone of the state-of-the-art Multi-Level Electric Bus Depot at Hari Nagar. The occasion was graced by Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh, Hon'ble Minister of Transport, GNCTD. Dr Ashish Sood, Hon’ble Minister of Home, Urban Development and Education, Smt. Niharika Rai (I.A.S), Secretary & Commissioner (Transport), Delhi, Shri Prince Dhawan (I.A.S), Managing Director, DTC, Sh. Vishwendra, (I.A.S), Special Commissioner, GNCTD and CGM, DTC, Shri K.P.Mahadevaswamy, CMD, NBCC, Shri Saleem Ahmad, Director (Projects), NBCC along with senior officials from Delhi Transport Corporation and NBCC (India) Ltd.
The project is a significant step in transforming the public transport landscape of the capital. Developed by Delhi Transport Corporation in collaboration with NBCC (India) Ltd. as Project Management Consultant, the depot will accommodate Approx 400 electric buses and will be equipped with modern charging facilities, making it a model of next-generation transport infrastructure.
The Hari Nagar Depot is being developed as a financially self-sustainable project, with revenues generated from retail and commercial spaces integrated into the design. Spread across 6.22-acre plot and built-up area of 7.4 lakh square feet and constructed at an estimated cost of Rs.419 crore, the facility will include modern offices of DTC, dormitories and a vibrant commercial hub. Designed with a focus on sustainability, the complex will feature solar power generation, rainwater harvesting and a wastewater treatment system, in line with the city’s vision of eco-friendly urban growth. The initiative is expected to set new benchmarks for public transport infrastructure while reinforcing Delhi’s leadership in green mobility.
