Chhattisgarh Government Announces Major IPS Officer Reshuffle

In a significant administrative move, the Chhattisgarh government has issued new posting orders for 31 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers. This major reshuffle is aimed at streamlining the state’s law enforcement infrastructure and strengthening departmental oversight across various critical units. The changes span across top-tier leadership roles down to district-level and specialized administrative positions, reflecting a comprehensive effort to enhance governance within the police force.

Among the senior-level appointments, Pawan Deo (1992 batch), who previously served as the CMD of the Chhattisgarh Police Housing Corporation, has been appointed as the Director General of Home Guards, Civil Defence, and Fire Services. Simultaneously, Gurjinder Pal Singh (1994 batch), formerly the DG at the Police Headquarters (PHQ), has been tasked with leading the State Police Academy as the DG of Training. S R P Kalluri (1994 batch) will transition from his role at the PHQ to serve as the new MD of the Chhattisgarh Police Housing Corporation.

The reshuffle also involves adjustments to several key operational portfolios. Pradeep Gupta (1995 batch) is now the ADGP for Administration and Selection, with an additional responsibility as the Director of Prosecution. Vivekanand (1996 batch), who has been overseeing Naxal Operations, SIB, STF, and CAF, has been granted the additional charge of ADGP for Finance, Planning, and Management. Similarly, Deepanshu Vijay Kabra (1997 batch) assumes the additional charge of ADGP for Railways and Traffic. Amit Kumar (1998 batch) will take on the additional charge of ADGP for the Anti-Narcotics Task Force, while Dr. Anand Chhabra (2001 batch) is shifted to the role of ADGP for Technical Services, Dial 112, and Telecommunications.

Operational and Regional Leadership Updates

The restructuring extends to the Inspector General (IG) and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) levels, which are crucial for maintaining localized efficiency. The following appointments have been formalized:

• Ankit Kumar Garg (2004 batch) assumes additional charge as IG of the Anti-Narcotics Task Force and IG SIA.
• Dhruv Gupta (2005 batch) is appointed as IG CID, CCTNS, and SCRB.
• Prashant Kumar Agrawal (2008 batch) takes on the role of IG S4C and Technical Services.
• Milna Kurre (2008 batch) has been shifted to the position of IG for the Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF).

At the DIG and AIG levels, the transfers include Mrs. Parul Mathur as DIG of the Anti-Narcotics Task Force, Manish Sharma in Administration and Selection, and Abhishek Meena leading the Chhattisgarh Armed Force in Bastar. Other notable appointments include Sadanand Kumar at the CAF PHQ in Nava Raipur, Girija Shankar Jaiswal for S4C and Technical Services, and M L Kotwani in the CID department. Furthermore, Ajatshatru Bahadur Singh will oversee Home Guard, SDRF, and Fire Services, while Vivek Shukla has been moved to the position of DIG, Security at the PHQ.

The administrative transition concludes with several specialized roles: Rajesh Kukreja takes charge of Finance, Planning & Management, Mrs. Shweta Rajmani manages Telecom and Dial 112, and Chirag Jain is posted as the Commandant of the 18th Battalion in Manendragarh Chirmiri. These strategic realignments are expected to bolster the state's security apparatus and improve the delivery of policing services across Chhattisgarh.
