Kerala Government Announces Major Reshuffle of 36 IAS Officers
In a major administrative overhaul, the Kerala government on Friday announced the transfer and posting of 36 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers. This comprehensive reshuffle impacts key departments, district collectorates, and state-run corporations, signaling a strategic realignment of the state's bureaucratic leadership.
Among the notable changes, Sriram V (KL 2013), previously the Director of the Agriculture Development and Farmers Welfare Department, has been appointed as Joint Secretary and Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the Forest and Wildlife Department. He will also oversee the Skill and Cashew Development Department. Renu Raj (KL 2015), formerly of the Health & Family Welfare Department, takes on expansive responsibilities including State Mission Director for the National Health Mission and Managing Director of the State Health Agency.
Key Departmental and District Appointments
The reshuffle includes significant movements in district-level administration:
- Anju K S (KL 2017) moves from State Lotteries to become the District Collector of Thiruvananthapuram, also chairing the Vizhinjam Port rehabilitation committee.
- Arjun Pandian (KL 2017) transitions from Kasargod District Collector to Director of Agriculture Development and Farmers Welfare.
- Sreedhanya Suresh (KL 2019), previously Commissioner of Food Safety, has been appointed as the District Collector of Kasargod.
- Chelsasini V (KL 2019) takes charge as the District Collector of Wayanad, moving from the Fisheries Department.
- Priyanka G (KL 2017) continues as Ernakulam District Collector while assuming the additional role of CEO, Kochi Metropolitan Transport Authority.
Strategic Leadership Changes
Several officers have been tasked with driving specialized government missions. Snehil Kumar Singh (KL 2016), the former Director of General Education, is now the Director of the Industries & Commerce Department, also holding leadership roles at KSIDC and KSITIL. Conversely, Arun K Vijayan (KL 2016) has been appointed as the new Director of General Education.
Technical and infrastructure sectors also saw significant adjustments. Sachin Kumar Yadav (KL 2020) has been named Director of the Kerala State IT Mission, with additional charges including the Kerala Fibre Optic Network (KFON). Mithun Premraj (KL 2021) moves to the Mining and Geology Department, while Sumit Kumar Thakur (KL 2022) takes over as Additional Director (General) of Tourism and Managing Director of KTDC.
The government has also made specific provisions for upcoming large-scale events. Dilip K Kainikkara (KL 2022) has been posted as the Additional District Magistrate for Sabarimala to coordinate inter-departmental efforts for the Mandala Makaravilakku season, ensuring seamless administrative oversight for the pilgrimage period. Additionally, younger officers like Archana P P (KL 2024) have been assigned new responsibilities as Sub Collectors, marking a mix of experienced leadership and fresh talent in the state's governance framework. This reshuffle reflects the government's ongoing effort to optimize administrative efficiency and address the evolving needs of various state missions and welfare projects.
